Customer activity: PRODUCTION SPORT DAMPER

Enquiry: DESIGN OF AUTOMATIZED PRESS FOR SPECIAL DAMPER

The customer produces high technologic value components for competition circuits such as F1, GP2, 24 ORE DI LEMANS, ...
In the specific case, he asked us for the design and realization of a hydraulic multifunction press to work a special component for damper.
The main need was to automatize the cycle (positioning the component to be machined on the press bench, remove it through the use of a pneumatic tool designed and realized by the customer). The production of the component had to be done through the conjunction of a chuck equipped with special tools at a pressure of 20ton.
During the design, we had to forecast an automatized locking system of the component (placed on the workbench) and to define two different speeds of the tower: (approach to the component in 0,10 mt/sec; bending in 0,007 mt/sec).

Solution:
As per the available electric powers, we arranged two combined power units with a single oil tank of 200lt cooled with an air/oil heat exchanger to allow a working time of 10-12h/day.
The first power unit has to control the rotation of the chuck during the work, in place the second unit granted the control during the approach and pressing phases.
A fixed displacement pump has been used on the first unit, an axial piston pump with variable displacement, checked by the plc, permitted to fix the component on the bench and bend it.
